Coming full circle

It doesn't seem possible that just a little over a year ago, I was moved into my camper, my household was moved into storage, and I was on my journey to live the simple life on the road.  My life was forever changed as I learned to live alone with my dog Paddy, and how we found places to visit along the way.   We had a fantastic time seeing places and meeting up with old friends in the Southwest US.

I returned to Colorado last Spring and decided to end the full-time camper way of life, and moved into a temporary for now  :) home in the Denver area.   I'm living in an apartment on the west side of the Denver metro area....where I can see the mountains that I love so much, and the ability to escape the city in a few minutes.  Those of you that know me, know I don't like living in the city.  So this will be a temporary stop (1 year) on my life journey.

I apologize to my followers for not keeping this blog updated. I have no excuse.  Anyway, life for me is settled in here in an apartment with my dog Paddy, and my son Steve.  We will room together here until next summer, and then we will move on.  I plan to move back to the mountains, but not as far away as Fairplay, where I lived before.

My camper is parked at my daughter Alicia's house in the mountains, and yes, it will be covered in snow this winter. I do plan to get it out in January to make a trip to California to go on a cruise with my parents and my 2 sisters, then go on the Quartzite for the rally in February. That's my plan anyway. I hope the weather here cooperates and I can get my camper out.  I'll hire a tow truck if I have to to get it out of her driveway!    lol

We have snow today, and it's the first "big" snow here, but only 3-4" today and really cold, in the 20's and teens tonight. What a difference from last winter when I was in the desert where it is warm and hot.

I do a lot of reading of books from the library, and of course watch a lot of TV and netflix for movies.  I couldn't live without my laptop either, since it provides my connection to the world.  I stay home most of the time, and go out for groceries.  Those of you who know me, know I don't shop. lol  This year for Christmas, I've done most of it online. What a great way to shop.  It's delivered to my door and I only have to wrap it.  No trapsing through stores looking for something I don't know what to get, and no running around to different stores to get that perfect gift.  Yep, I'm liking online shopping.  :)

Knitting is back in my life again....always have a project on the needles.  I've been doing some sewing, too, making a cute fleece baby blanket for a friend and her baby boy, and some sewing for my parents.  I have patterns waiting for making me some things, too, just need fabric.  My sewing machine is the one I learned to sew on when I was 8, an old Singer cabinet model, and it still sews like a dream. "old is best" sometimes.

I enjoy following my Casita camper friends online in their journeys this year, and enjoy reading their blogs, too.  I made some really good friends last year and we keep in touch on Facebook.

So here's a few pictures to share.   I'll try and blog at lease once a month.

View from my balcony. You can see the mountains to the west.  Paddy is looking out down on his level.  :)

Homemade laundry soap I use now.

Today would be a good day to light the fireplace again.

Paddy by the heater getting warm.  He's smart!

Here's Peach visiting us.  Alicia's dog. She's so cute, and thinks she's a lap dog.  :)

No clothes lines here, so I bought this drying rack.  Just pop them in the dryer for 2 minutes after they're dry, and they turn out just like you dried them all the way in the dryer.  $ saves kilowatts

 Baby blanket I made

Here's the baby I made it for...I finally got to hold a baby!! I've been yearning to hold one for years.  Baby Aero is so cute, my grand daughter Savanna's baby.

Paddy says "Hi" everyone!

Drunken Noodle Fest Pics

Here's the pics I talked about in the previous post.   Great fun!

At Home in the City

Yes I know....I haven't posted for over a month.  So here goes....

I am settled into an apartment in Lakewood, CO, the most western suburb of Denver area, as close to the foothills as I could get.  I moved in here with my adult son...oh my...and it is a year lease for him to make some life changes.  I never thought I would live with one of my kids again, but here I am, and am taking days and months as a starting off point for me, too.  I swore I'd never live in the city again, but you do what Moms do.  so I am here.....

Apartment living is okay, not like living in the woods in a house, where I lived a year ago before I started my Casita camper journey last September.  I was really ready to get out of that camper into a "permanent" home on land.  :)   Last year was great, I'm not going to complain, but there were times of loneliness and boredom, but you know....that happens living wherever we are.  Happiness comes from within, not where I am or what I'm doing.

There are still boxes in here, but we're basically unpacked with what we need to live.  I have the larger master bedroom with a walk-in closet.  We both have a bathroom...a good thing.  :)   We chose this complex because it has large apartments with nice amenities.  2 pools, workout room, garages, and a location where everything we could possibly need within a few miles.  And the mountains are only 4 miles.  We have a mountain view from our place and lots of big windows that brings in great sunshine.   It's been a little hot here the past 2 weeks, but Fall is upon the horizon. again.   Summer's are short in Colorado, basically June, July, and August.

We have a yearly friends and family camping trip in the wilderness, and this year there were 21 of us, camping in Lost Park Wilderness area in the mountains west of Denver.   It's called Drunken Noodle Fest.  long story of how it got named, but it's my daughter and 2 of her friends who organize it every year.  We have such fun!    Yes it rained this year, but we endured, playing group games, sitting and cooking around the fire.  No fire ban this year, they lifted it a few days before we camped.  yah!  Of course I camp in my Casita camper, but everyone else was in tents.  you know...I miss camping in a tent, and I have an awesome tent and all tent camping equipment still in my camping "collection". :)   I love the outdoors and love being in the wilderness.   I still have a dream of going back-packing, and have all the gear for it.  someday.....I will do it.   promise.      pics below of this year's Noodly antics and fun.

Last year traveling, I had no TV access most of the time, so I missed a year's worth of shows and movies.   I love watching TV and movies!   But my traveling was a good test to see if I could live without them, and I can.   Now I have cable TV and internet, and have been catching up on some shows I really like.   :)

I've been reading books from the local library....almost the first thing I did...get a library card.  :)   Books provide me with serenity and peace and hours of good time spent not in front of the TV.    I've read some of Kristin Hannah's, Nevada Barr, and A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson.

Here's some pics from Blue Mesa, Turquoise Lake, and the Jefferson, Colorado spots.
Til the next time.....I'll be back.

Casita Journey coming to a close

Hello friends and family......I have decided to leave the full-time life-style of traveling in my camper.   It was a great adventure, and now I'm ready to put down some legs and live at a "basecamp".  I grew tired of living alone, especially since leaving the desert southwest USA.  I am excited to tell you I'll be living in a western suburb of Denver, CO, starting this week.    My son Steve and I are going to room together in a large apartment. He is starting a new job next week, and we're all happy about that.  :)
Since the trip to Gunnison to Blue Mesa a few weeks ago, I've been staying at my son David's home in southern Denver suburb, and getting ready for the move.   Thankyou David and Holly for sharing your home and a spot for my camper.
Steve and I went camping with Alicia and Satori last weekend in the mountains near Jefferson Lake, CO.  It was fun and restful.....but the mosquitoes were awful!   We couldn't have a campfire due to the fire bans, so we sat around a propane heater Alicia has.  Not quite like a campfire, but provided warmth and a deterent to the mosquitoes.   It rained almost everyday a little.
After we get settled, I plan to update my blog again more often, since there is camping trips on my calendar this summer to go to. :)  AND a couple next winter, one in Texas, and of course Quartzsite, AZ, in February.

Colorado Rockies

That's where I am again.  After a trip to Kansas for 3 weeks in May.   From fishing at Tuttle Creek reservoir to helping my sister Pam with her pies and pastries at the Farmers market to spending time with sister Denise and shopping with Mom, and fishing with Dad.  I always have a good time there.
I caravaned to Colorado with Mom and Dad in their camper, me in my Casita to Blue Mesa reservoir near Gunnison for camping and fishing for kokanee salmon and trout 2 weeks ago. They rented a pontoon and we all enjoyed riding and fishing for a week.  Alicia and Satori were here for a long weekend,  staying in a cabin. Then my sister Denise and Brandon drove out for 4 days.
We fished every day for 10 days....we caught fish every day..mostly fishing. ..not a lot of catching. Lol
Denise, Brandon and I did the Morrow Point boat tour below the dam.  We made it down the 232 steps to the bottom of the canyon, walked 3/4 mile to the boat dock and really enjoyed the 1.5 hours boat ride through the canyon.  Then we walked all the way out!
I'm staying in Colorado now...and yes, am still in my Casita camper....since last September.   Will see if I keep living this lifestyle or succumb to getting a house again....will see.  :)
Here's some pics..again sorry Can't post text by each one...durn Android Blogger.
I hope to post more often!
