aaahhhh family time....

Nice Thanksgiving in Colorado!

My trip from Manhatan, Kansas to Denver, Colorado area to spend holiday with my 3 children and grand-daughter was so nice this year.  Since I don't have a home right now, I spent the time staying at David and Holly's house and at Alicia and Satori's house.   Steve joined us for Thanksgiving day and Friday.

Alicia and I prepared all the dishes with gusto...of course it helped with some "cheer" throughout the day.

We had all the traditional dishes plus her Autumn Salad, and an ice cream cake.

We played Telestrations game that night, and was a hoot with lots of laughter on every round.

We stayed up late enjoying being together again.   With the fireplace going, her log home was filled with warmth and glowing with happiness.

Our pumpkin pies were made from organic ingredients...we had fun making and baking them...they turned out beautiful and good... smile.

From setting the table with home-made decorations, to serving the beautiful turkey... I can say it was the best ever for me.

Thank-you dear turkey for providing our table with a nourishing and yummy part of our dinner.

I am grateful to be with my family every year.

I miss those who have passed before me, and am grateful to be close to them in spirit everyday.

My family

Saturday after Thanksgiving was my "group therapy' lunch with my good friends, Barb and Linda.   We met at The Chop House in Denver.   Superb food with sharing our stories since we last met in September.    Always a good time with them.

I returned yesterday to Manhattan, Kansas, to my temporary home at my sister Denise's house.   We missed each other for the week I was away.    It's nice to be "home".   :)

Now to finish up my little Casita camper, making it more comfortable, before my trek after Christmas as a Snowbird towards the warmer weather of the southwest.

Ready to travel

Tomorrow I leave for my trip back to Denver area to spend Thanksgiving with my kids and grand-daughter.  I'm really looking forward to seeing them again.  I won't be pulling my's staying here parked in my parents driveway this week.  I'm taking a bunch of things back to my storage unit, things I decided I don't need.  The bathroom door and table from the camper are going into storage.   I changed my bed formation in my little Casita Patriot so there's a place to sit with a small table, with the smaller bed at the back.  Now I'll have a place to sit, read, do crafts, while I'm inside the camper.  I had to sit on the bed before.   My cousin Jan is going to help me do somemore things after I get back next week.  She has a Casita, too.   excited!!
here's a pic of the new bed and sitting area:

I got home from my sis Pam's today, where I spent the weekend.  We had fun in Council Grove, rearranging her furniture, and just having a good time.  Her, Jan, and I ate at the Saddlerock Cafe in Council Grove Saturday morning.  It's been there since before I was born I think.  I used to go eat there when I was growing up every Saturday night when we "went to town".  :)   Here's a sign they have up in there now....what a neat place.

It's not fancy for sure, but the food is good

I took a little nap this afternoon!   most of you know I can't sleep in the daytime, but today I was so sleepy....stretched out on the couch and snoozed for an hour.  After that I got up and packed my bags to leave tomorrow.

The past week was fun here.   I picked up Andrew from school and took him to bowling and work.  He is mostly blind, so needs a ride everyday.
I watched him bowl at the K State Union...he's good!

We watched Kansas State lose their first game last night.  Baylor played hard and overcame every KSU attempt to get ahead.   Hard to watch, after they've had such a good season.    One game left on December 1, then a bowl game, yet to be determined...they won't be going to the championship SEC game in Miami, they lost 1st place last night.

My favorite show is on tonight...Amazing Race...LOVE it!  lol      I always wanted to be on it from the very 1st season.   dreaming again..  haha

I'll be in Colorado for a week, and have plans almost everyday.  fun filled "mini vacation"   :)    Thanksgiving at my daughter Alicia's house will be special since they moved in there in September.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to all who read this...enjoy your day wherever you are and with whoever you are with.   Family is the most important of all.

November arrives

November arrived silently with Daylight Savings time leaving on the same night. I've been staying with my sister Denise and family....I have my own room here, a nice alternative from sleeping in my camper every night.  :)    It's sitting out front here on the street.

Last Friday I went to visit at my sis Pam's house for 2 nights.  We had a good time at Candlelight Charm in Council Grove, Kansas, walking around the shops and enjoying a gathering of the people of Council Grove, just like it used to be when I was growing up....all the stores stayed open Saturday night....This holiday festival with Dickens' dressed carolers, carriage and trolley rides, food and music.

Shops had specials and refreshments along the way. We browsed and shopped the Gathering in the Grove Art Show, held in the building that used to house the City Library. Many local artists displayed and sold their various types of art, from fiber art, paintings, ceramics, antiques, to custom photography.
We spent the remaining evening watching Kansas State football game...adding yet another win to their undefeated year.

Pam and I also made a batch of sour dough bread from her starter she made last summer...yum.   It came out of the oven right before we left for Council Grove, so we enjoyed it when we returned home.    so good, especially with her home made apple butter and plum jelly.

Sunday, my family had a dinner (lunch) called Thanksmas.....time to gather with family and friends before my folks leave for winter in California.   We had the traditional Thanksgiving feast, and of course were stuffed with good food and desserts.    Denise's family hosts Czechoslovakian exchange students, and one of them attended.  He had never experienced an American Thanksgiving....they do not celebrate it in his country.

I made an apple cobbler in my Dutch oven.  With the pumpkin pies, we were pleasantly plumped!   :)

This week is going fast, just like all the other weeks here.    I'm doing some things to my camper this week, making it more comfortable for my trek after Christmas to the Southwest.    Also fixing some things.     It will be ready when I head back to Denver for Christmas to spend the holiday my family there, then leave for the winter. will be a Good time is the best....
